How they formed...

... another garage band in the early 90’s consisting of four aggressive guys, who used to play in a bar in Makati called Kalye,  thinking that using different names every time they perform is cool,  until WOLFGANG, that is, a name suggested by David Aguirre of Razorback.  They even used the names such as  Flaming Hemorrhoids and Constipated Christians. Wolfgang's drummer, Wolf Gemora, before had a band called Hysteria that plays Def Leppard, Whitesnake, GNR, and, Poison and used to be a roadie for Razorback and even a sub drummer for Miguel Ortigas. Manuel Legarda, their guitarist, was a balikbayan from Spain after studying at St. Louis University in Madrid, and started hanging out with Razorback and  where he met Wolf. He was asked if he wanted to form a band, and Manuel agrees and they both looked for a vocalist and a bassist. Then they saw Basti, at Kalye, from the band called Sin City which covers songs from Metallica, Tesla, Joan Jett. Basti, thinking that Sin City appears that it would be going to be a garage band forever, so, he decided to leave and join Wolf and Manuel. According to them, Basti was not the best singer at that time but had a stage presence. Wolfgang's first bassist was John Templo, but some serious matters was wrong about it. They got another bassist but his mom shipped his bass guitar to the province and end up grounded. A Rizal Underground guy,  Angelo, played but couldn't commit to it, that then Mon Legaspi was his recommendations. Mon was doing sessions with Runaway Boys and Mariya's Mistress.   Soon they started playing cover songs from Razorback, Black Sabbath, to Bad Company, and some originals, they played in schools, out-of-town gigs and their very first gig was a community church centers...

They began to write their own songs and have them on demo tape. "Darkness Fell" was submitted to RT 99.5, "Arise" and "Left Alone" landed on LA 105.9, these demos got a heavy rotation of hard music airplay and more listeners became their favorites. Ivory Records noticed them and gave them their first record deal and  releasing Wolfgang's self-titled album in 1995, with hits such as "Halik ni Hudas",and  "Natutulog Kong Mundo". The first album did well but due to lack of promotion and marketing of their label Wolfgang switched to Sony Music Philippines. After their first album, and signing up with a new label, Epic Records, they produce a follow album titled SEMENELIN. It gave them the title Artist of the Year and Listener's Choice award in the 1996 NU Rock Awards. This dark album with heavy cuts such as Mata ng Diyos, Weightless, Love and Despair, they released a counterpart album for US release only, having tracks entitled Watermarks, the English version of Mata ng Diyos, and an extra track Roadworthy Man which was included in the their singles prior to the release of Semenelin. A year after, then came out their concept album WURM, the story about the rise and fall of an emperor and their follow up album, the big warship gun album SERVE IN SILENCE which gave them more titles and awards. As the say, its history, a history that is ongoing to this day, being one of the biggest Filipino rock/metal groups in the land. Until Wolfgang, that is, the saviours of Pinoy Rock.
